The visual arts and crafts play a key role in shaping and enriching Indian cultural life and in defining our cultural landscape. The range of activities and occupations encompassed by the visual arts and crafts is diverse and complex, and overlaps with other arts and cultural industries, including museums, galleries, community arts, multimedia, design and throughout industry more generally, e.g. manufacturing and retail industries.
Visual arts and crafts practice encompasses approaches ranging from the purely research based or conceptual to direct industry/commercial applications and sale through the retail industry. It includes creation, distribution and promotion of: ceramics, painting, sculpting, murals, glass, furniture, wood, jewellery, metalwork ect.
The aim of this program is to prepare  students as craft designers to act as a bridge between the artisans and the  market.  The central idea of the programme is the growth and development  of both craftsperson and craft sector in an integrated manner. It seeks to  generate requisite knowledge, upgrade relevant skills and foster right attitude  in order to develop high quality, experimentation and innovative Products.
                    
                    The programme covering two main streams:
Hard Material Application:
                  This discipline broadly deals with processes  like firing, forming and fabrication. The students are taught to work with  materials like with Glass, Clay, Terracotta, Wood, Metal, Stone and their  combination. 
  
                    Soft Material Application:
                  This discipline broadly deals with processes  like weaving, Surface development and garmenting. The students are taught to  work with materials like natural fibers, paper, yarns, fabric, leather, etc.

On the successful completion of the Diploma Courses students should be able to take up employment within manufacturing unit and/or start own Business.
